LINE OFFICERS

CHIEF
CARL KNIGHT
Carl has over 34 years in the volunteer fire service. In 1978 he joined the Country Hills Volunteer Fire Department in Somerset County, where he served for 18 years, five years as president and 10 years as a line officer and now holds life membership.
After 15 years away from firefighting, Carl joined Holland Township Volunteer Fire Co. in 2010, serving as a line officer and vice president. As a first-year chief, Carl looks forward to continuing the progress the previous chiefs have made in moving the company forward.

DEPUTY CHIEF
CHRIS COLLINS
Deputy Chief Collins has served the Township of Holland and surrounding communities for 15 years. Joining the Country Hills Volunteer Fire Department in 1981 as a junior member Collins is a dedicated volunteer and a 32-year Holland Township resident. Prior to joining Holland Township Fire Co, he served for several years with the Branchburg Rescue Squad and the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Co.
Collins has filled every lower rank, rising from Firefighter, Engineer and Lieutenant, then on to the company officer positions of Captain and Assistant Chief. During his time as a Company officer Collins has participated in and led initiatives to expand Holland Fire Company’s technical rescue competencies in low angle rope rescue, vehicle extrication and swift water rescue.

ASSISTANT CHIEF
TOM WELSH
Chief Tom Welsh has been active in the fire service for over 23 years, rising through the ranks of Holland Township Vol. Fire Co. from volunteer firefighter to Chief. During his three-year tenure as Chief, Welsh initiated company-wide training in many vital areas of emergency services including Vehicle Rescue Operations, Traffic Incident Management, and the use of Compressed Air Foam in fire suppression. Chief Welsh currently serves in the role of Assistant Chief.
Chief Welsh is a Life Member of HTVFC, a member of Hunterdon County Fire Chief’s Association, and a founding member of the Emerald Society of Hunterdon County. In addition to the volunteer fire service, Welsh is a first-grade teacher at Holland Township School and possess a Master’s Degree in Literacy from New Jersey City University.

CAPTAIN
RICH DAVI
Captain Rich Davi has served with Holland Twp. Vol. Fire Co. since 2002. Known for his leadership and commitment, Rich has played a significant role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. Rich grew up in New York City and lost several friends in the attacks on 9/11. After moving to Holland Twp, joining the HTVFC was a way of giving back to the community and honor their memory. Rich's passion for helping others and making a difference in people's lives has been the driving force behind his 23 years of dedicated service. As a Global Emergency Preparedness and Response Advisor for ExxonMobil, Rich trains company employees to respond to large scale incidents around the world.

CAPTAIN
ALDO TAMMARO
Captain Aldo Tammaro brings 30 years of experience in the fire service to the Holland Twp. Vol. Fire Co. Aldo is NJ State certified Fire Official, Fire Instructor and Emergency Medical Technician. Aldo has various types of training including high angle rescue. Aldo has served as Lieutenant and now as Captain and training officer.

LIEUTENANT
STEVE UNDERHILL
Lieutenant Steven Underhill is retired from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department where he served for 25 years. Steven has an associates degree in criminal justice from Raritan Valley Community College. Steven first started with the South Bound Brook Fire Department, Steven brings 34 years of experience in the fire service to the Holland Twp. Vol. Fire Co. He has served as Chief of Holland Twp. Vol Fire Co. for eight years and is now serving as Lieutenant. Steven is a life member of the Holland Twp. Vol. Fire Co. and a member of the Hunterdon County Fire Chief’s Association.

LIEUTENANT
TOM DOUGHERTY
Lieutenant Tom Dougherty is a graduate of Hunterdon Central High School. Tom attended Mercer County Community College, joined Holland Twp. Vol. Fire Co. in 2007. Tom has held the ranks of Captain, Assistant, Deputy Chief and Chief. Tom is currently serving as Lieutenant.

LIEUTENANT
TOM ERWIN
Originally a resident of North Brunswick Township Tom moved to Holland Township in 1995. Tom is a former (retired) union electrician, Tom entered the fire service in 1978 and continued with the fire service when he moved to Holland Township. Tom has enjoyed holding many positions but his most rewarding was being chief of Holland Township Volunteer Fire Co. and serving with the members of the Fire Company. Tom is a life member of Holland Township Volunteer Fire Company.

MIKE MURPHY
Lieutenant Michael Murphy served as a Corpsman in the US Navy for six years. When Michael completed his time in the Navy Michael became an Emergency Medical Technician for Woodbridge Township. Michael is currently a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Michael joined the Holland Township Vol. Fire Co. in 2021 and is currently serving as Lieutenant.

ANTHONY ROSELLE
Chaplain Anthony Roselle serves as a dedicated volunteer and chaplain with Holland Township Volunteer Fire Company, combining emergency response skills with spiritual and emotional support. With 17 years of service, he provides guidance to fellow firefighters and those affected by crises. Passionate about both public safety and community care, Anthony is actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the fire company. Committed to faith and service, he continues to be a source of strength and support for the department and the community.
